We understand how important it is for your business to have an accurate map pin on Google Maps. That is why, despite limitations in Google's API, we've begun offering limited support for map pins in Local Platform.
The Local Platform will display any map pin currently on your location, as well as track new Google and Owner/Manager updates to your map pin.
Please note: Due to limitations of Google's API, it is not currently possible to set your map pin within Local Platform or to "accept" or "reject" these updates.
In the Whitespark Local Platform, there will be a button to "dismiss" these updates; however, if the pin placement doesn't look correct, follow the guide below.
How can I update my map pin?
You can modify the map pin for your business by using Google's interface, but you may want to proceed with caution: Some businesses report that changing their map pin in Google's interface is triggering a suspension.
An alternative way to update that would sidestep the suspension risk is to use Google Maps' "Suggest an Edit" feature. Here's how you would proceed:
Make sure you are logged into a Google account that is NOT an owner or manager of the Google Business Profile.
Look up the business on Google Maps.
Click the "Suggest an edit" button on the Profile.
Click "Change name or other details"
Click "Edit map location"
Drag the map until the pin is in the correct location
Click save
If you update the map pin via Google's interface, your change will be automatically reflected in Local Platform within a few hours.
If you update the map pin using "Suggest an edit", then you will receive another update notification in our system to tell you that Google changed your map pin. If it looks correct, you can dismiss the update notification.
The Local Platform is saying Google is not reporting my map pin, how can I set that?
First, check inside Google's interface to see if a Google Update is present. If so, click "OK" to acknowledge and accept the Google Update. Your map pin will then usually update and be properly set in Local Platform within two hours.
For some legacy Business Profiles, another step may be required.
If there is no update present, or accepting the update didn't successfully set your map pin within Local Platform, you may have to slightly adjust the pin within Google's interface, and then save your changes. This should properly record the map pin for locations where Google has improperly set it.
Once again, the information should be updated within Local Platform in less than two hours.
