Local Platform will detect any changes to your Google Business Profile; it will also let you know the source of the change.

Source of changes are indicated by either a cowboy icon, indicating an Owner/Manager update, or a G, indicating a Google update, next to each line item. You can also view the source by clicking on each individual update.

Why Google Updates occur

A change originating from Google could mean that Google has found information that supports the change, or a google maps user has made a suggestion, which Google often accepts and publishes.

Why Owner/Manager Updates occur

A change originating from an "Owner/Manager" means the change was made in one of two ways:

1) Through the Google Dashboard by someone with access to the Profile, or

2) by a third-party software that has been connected to the Profile by someone with manager access.

If you see an owner/manager update that you do not expect

There are a few steps you can take to track down the source of this change.

First, check who has access to the Google Business Profile. You can do this by viewing your Profile in search, clicking on the menu (3 dots) > Business Profile Settings > People and Access.

You can find more detailed instructions from Google here.

Next, have each of the authorized accounts verify that there are no third-party applications connected that could be responsible for the change. You can check this by following this link: https://myaccount.google.com/connections and filtering by connections with "Any account access"

If you suspect one of these applications may be the source for the change, you can click on it and delete its connection.

Now that you know the source of the change you can take action by either accepting or rejecting the change. Learn more about what these actions mean here.
